You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know!
Confused?
You’re not alone, and we’re here to help.
Schools often fulfill their obligation to "provide information" about parental rights with a simple booklet or brochure, leaving many parents feeling overwhelmed and under-informed. Just as you wouldn't tackle your taxes without an accountant, you shouldn't face the intricacies of your child's education alone.
We offer the expertise of qualified advocates who empower parents to participate more meaningfully in their child's IEP meetings. We work in a respectful and collaborative manner with educators to ensure that children receive the services and support they need. Our comprehensive approach includes wrap-around, whole-child case management, ensuring that every aspect of your child's educational journey is supported with care and precision.
Advocacy Services
Our advocacy services are designed to empower parents to become confident advocates for their children. We recognize that school staff may sometimes be unaware of the full range of services and support available for students with disabilities, or may attempt to apply a one-size-fits-all approach.
Additionally, families' concerns can sometimes go unheard. Our mission is to ensure that parents are active, informed, and respected members of any team making educational decisions for their child.
-
Our advocacy services typically start with a 30 minute FREE consultation. Parents bring any documents they have regarding the student (current IEP or 504 Plan, report cards, evaluations, etc.). We listen to the concerns and goals of the parent and assist parents with developing a strategy to address their educational concerns.
-
Yes. Often, after developing a strategy, we contact the school district, arrange a meeting (if one has not already been scheduled), and attend alongside the parent to ensure their concerns are heard. We work collaboratively with the parent and the school team to develop an appropriate educational plan for the student.
-
We can do that! Sometimes parents only want a consultation to make sure they understand the process and feel confident and empowered to advocate for their child.
-
School districts may sometimes anticipate that parents will feel overwhelmed and choose to withdraw their child or accept the status quo. However, when an advocate joins the team, it often leads to a positive shift in dynamics. Our presence is not about confrontation; rather, it's about fostering collaboration and understanding. With our experienced guidance, parents often find that the options, responsiveness, and resources available to their child expand significantly. It can be surprising to see the same team members, who once seemed unyielding, become open and supportive partners in your child's educational journey.
-
Investing in an advocate can significantly enhance your child's educational experience and provide peace of mind for you as their caregiver. Rather than asking if you can afford an advocate, consider the potential benefits your child might gain from having the right support. Our advocates are here to listen, explain your rights, and help you develop a plan during a free consultation, where we'll explore all your options together. We offer a range of services and flexible payment plans to accommodate families in any state. By taking this step, you can positively influence the district's approach to your child's education. Reach out to us today, and we'll work with you to find the best solution.
